Pay your Town of Lockport Tax bills Online!

County and Town taxes are always due on January 31st. If the 31st falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the due date will carry over to the next business day. We do honor United States postmarks. Please note that a postage meter imprint is not a U.S. Postmark and will not be honored.

Also, if you use your online banking system, please allow 2 weeks for processing. These payments are mailed to us without postmarks so if we do not receive your payment by the due date, it will be considered late regardless of the day you set it up.

Mailed payments go directly to the bank's processing center for faster processing. The processing center for the Town of Lockport's local bank is located in Erie County. This is the reason that the PO Box is in Buffalo.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • I recently paid off my mortgage.  Do I have to notify the Assessor’s Office?
Yes, if your taxes are currently paid by an escrow agent. A property owner should notify the Assessor's office as soon as possible in writing of any change of address or mortgage satisfaction so that the tax bills can be addressed correctly. Although the escrow companies are required to report escrow account changes, the information may not reach the Tax Receiver in time to send the tax bill to the correct address.
  • I never received my Town & County Tax bill.
Real Property Tax Law §922 states that the failure to receive a tax bill or receive a late bill does not affect the validity of the taxes or the interest prescribed by law. It is the responsibility of the property owner to know when the taxes are due.

  • Can I make a partial payment on my Town & County taxes?
No. Partial payments of Town and County taxes will not be accepted.

  • Can the penalty be waived on my Town & County taxes?
No. The law does not provide for a waiver of penalties or interest.
