Town Transitioning to Cart-Based Trash Collection
Dear Residents,
The Town has contracted with Modern Corporation and will transition to cart based trash collection starting January 1, 2024. Your trash and recycling collection day will remain the same. Modern’s transition to cart based collection is driven by a need for efficiency in collection and routing, which produces a cost savings to town wide users. We anticipate cart delivery to take several weeks starting in early to mid-December. Each parcel in the Town’s refuge district will receive one free 95-gallon cart per unit. Please take note of the following:
- You may begin using your carts as soon as they arrive.
- Your former carts may be placed out as a single bulk item on your collection day during all four weeks of December. Carts that you may wish to be removed must be empty marked with an “X” or “take me” sign.
- Modern will send literature about the program in mid to late December. Their detailed brochure will consist of recycling week, bulk item collection schedule, recycling menu and program specifics.
We respectfully request residents to “try out” the new program before requesting additional carts. Should you decide an additional cart is needed at your residence, the Town will take requests effective March 1, 2024.
